Velburg is a town in Upper Palatinate district Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz. Velburg is a small historic town located in the Oberpfälzer Jura. You will find here the ruins of the castle and chateau Velburg Helfenberg, and the parish church of the birth of the Virgin Mary at Oberweiling.

SightsThe most famous building is the Romanesque Cathedral of Our Lady and St. Stephen, where are buried many medieval emperors and kings, and in 1310 there married John of Luxembourg. Speyer own "Jewish Court" with the oldest completely preserved mikveh of 12 Century. On the outskirts of the town is interesting museum dedicated to technical resources, and particularly transport aircraft including the Boeing 747-230. In the city there is since 1990 a theater for children and youth. Municipal libraries have more than one million scientific books and a large number of different manuscripts.
