CastleThe most attractive point of interest is the castle Schwetzinger and especially its internationally renowned Palace garden. Hundreds of thousands of people visit annually the 72-hectare large complex of palace gardens. The former Court Theatre in chateau was built in 1752 by Nicolas de Pigage.

They say, that the island called Baltrum because it were so small that was „bald rum“ („soon rum“). This alludes to the small size of the island. However, a complete circumnavigation of the island is about 15 km.
