University city in the Saarland was founded in 1909 by merging the three cities - Saarbrücken, St. Johann and Malstatt-Burbach. Saarbrücken is the political, economical and cultural center of the Saarland. State Theatre building was built in 1937/38.
SightseeingYou will find a lot of sightseeing as the castle in baroque style Saarbrücken, Halberg Castle and the Old Bridge, built 1546/47. Diverse mix of entertainment in all parts of the city offers several indoor and outdoor pools. In approximately 17 hectares large park you will see some 120 domestic and domesticated European wild and domestic animals.
