It is the city with the most separately protected monuments in Germany. The house of the executioner- Finstetor- is located by the old town wall in the suburb of St. Nicholas. It is the only fully-preserved half-timbered house in the town. Already in the years 1234-1245 the Church of the Holy Trinity was built at the gates of the town.
