City of three riversThe city has the status as urban district and it is also the administrative center of the land district Passau. Passau is known as a city of three rivers. Run down here to the Danube, Inn and Ilz. Thanks to its picturesque and baroque architecture the city is frequently visited by tourists. You can take a boat cruise around Passau and the surrounding towns.
Public transportPassau has advanced network of public transport. There is the railvay station with trains running categories InterCity, Eurocity and ICE in the center of town and around the town there is motorway linking Regensburg to Linz. Important transport routes are also rivers Danube and Inn.
UniversityUniversity in Passau was founded in 1978 and is one of the smaller universities in Germany. University is situated on the Inn River and located directly near the historic downtown.

It is a three-aisled cross basilica from 12th century and is considered the most important Romanesque basilica with vaults in Swabia.
