The Baltic Sea is bounded by the Scandinavian Peninsula, the mainland of Europe, and the Danish islands. The westernmost point of the Baltic Sea is located at the west, in the end of the city of Flensburg. The northernmost point of the Baltic Sea is located on the Swedish-Finnish border on the Gulf of Bothnia. Its easternmost point in St. Petersburg in Russia and its southernmost point, the Baltic Sea represents the southern end of the Szczecin Lagoon in Szczecin.

Between the Oder and Hohensaaten-Friedrichsthaler Wasserstrasse is a natural floodplain landscape rich in flora and fauna, which is very rare in Central Europe. This area was declared a National Park Lower Odra Valley (Nationalpark Unteres Odertal) in 1995. Oder center is a big shopping center in Schwedt.
