Dillingen an der Donau (Bavaria region)

Location

Dillingen on the Danube is a large county town and administrative headquarters of the district the same name Dillingen in the Bavarian administrative region Swabia. Dillingen is located in Northern Swabia, on the north bank of the Danube river in landscape Donauried.

Sights

The most famous person who has worked in Dillingen is probably the pioneer of hydrotherapy and the priest Sebastian Kneipp. Basilica of St. Peter is parish church in the city center. You will find the monastery church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary – churche of the Franciscan Order. It is the jewel of Rococo. Old Town Hall was built around 1500. Castle Dillingen is a former Episcopal palace residence, which now houses the District Court and the Finance Office.
