Leipzig is a core of the metropolitan area of Leipzig-Halle, and therefore part of the metropolitan area Saxon Triangle.The city is a major transportation hub and is one of the strongest economic areas in the Saxony land. SightsTown Hall dominates the city. It was completed in 1512 after 25 years of construction in late Gothic style. The castle is built in Osnabrück in the Baroque style and dates from the 17th century. Tower Bucksturm served in the early 13th century as a watchtower built into the town wall. In the Middle Ages it was used as a prison. St. Peter´s Cathedral was consecrated in 785th. Osnabrück has several different theaters. There is also a puppet theater. In the town district Schölerberg there is the ZOO Osnabrück, which was opened in 1936 as a domestic zoo.
