Aalen is a town in eastern Baden-Württemberg, about 70 km east of Stuttgart and 50 km north of Ulm. It is the county seat and largest town of the district Ostalbkreis and the entire eastern region of Württemberg.

Sights

The historic town hall was originally built in the 14th century after the great fire in 1634 was rebuilt in 1636. The town is dominated by the Protestant Church of St. Nicholas in the heart of the pedestrian zone. On the hill Langert stands 26 meters high tower Aalbäumle. Urban Observatory was built in 1969 as a school gymnasium Schubartovo Observatory. In Aalen was based a german football club VfR Aalen.
