Only 1 km from Merzhausen there is the Museum of Contemporary Art - it is the Art Museum of the City Museum in Freiburg im Breisgau. This building is located in the Marienstrasse 10a, it is housed in the former public school for girls -Adelhausen. The building was built in 1902 in a historic style and in 1984-1985 rebuilt by the Adelhauser foundation for the new use.

The Catholic Church in Kandern (1860/61) is the only Catholic church in the city and its surroundings. Due to its location in the triangle Kandern is an ideal base for exploring the Black Forest, Alsace and Switzerland.
