Braunlage is a spa and winter sports resort surrounded by the Harz National Park at an altitude of 550 m above sea level. The local spa park and gardens with mountain views and outdoor panorama of about 14 ha are unique in the whole area of northern Germany. Museum of Skiing and home (FIS-Skimuseum) provides information about local history, as well as about the development of skiing in general and specifically in the Harz region. Braunlage is a major ski resort in the Harz Mountains.
