Information about The Hostel

Set in an original Victorian building, this funky hostel offers airy dorm rooms with large windows and high ceilings. It is directly opposite Haymarket Train Station and only a 5-10 minute walk from Princes Street. Guests staying at The Hostel can benefit from modern bunk beds and fresh bedding. Bedrooms feature original artworks by Jade Carrera. Bathroom facilities are shared. Free WiFi is available 24/7 in the hostel’s public areas. Visitors can make use of the pool table and a communal lounge with digital TV and DVD. There is also a modern kitchen with 2 ovens and a pleasant outdoor area with tables and chairs. Loch Ness and Highlands tours can be booked at the reception. St Mary's Cathedral is right on The Hostel’s doorstep, while the popular Grassmarket area is an easy 15-minute stroll away. Guests can enjoy 20% off their food and drink bill when dining at The West End Hotel.

Please note: The TV lounge, kitchen and lockers are available between 08:00 and 23:00 daily. The minimum age for booking a dorm bed is 18. The Hostel accepts long term lets up to a maximum of 2 weeks. It is at the managements discretion to allow stays for longer than 14 nights. Guests are required to show a form of photo identification such as a passport, driving license, residency cards or European ID cards upon check-in. Group Bookings: Please note that if you are a group of 8 or more people you will be asked to pay the remaining balance as a group (not individually). A security deposit of GBP 20 is required per person on arrival. This deposit is fully refundable upon check-out and subject to a damage inspection of the accommodation. Please note that you should allow time for your room to be checked on departure as this can take up to 15 minutes, if you fail to leave time for your room/s to be inspected the deposits will not be returned. Disturbing other residents will also result in a penalty charge, the amount will be determined on a case by case basis. Upon arrival your group will be asked to read through an introduction letter which lists damages and penalty charges, the hostel reserves the right to change these at any time without warning. Cancelling group bookings: If you are a party of 8 or more people our standard group cancellation policy applies. Cancellations must be made no later than 2 weeks prior to arrival or a cancellation charge applies.
