Samuel Whitbread, founder of the brewing business, was born in the main house in 1720 and it remained within the Whitbread family until 1890s, becoming a hotel in 1987. Each bedroom is traditionally and comfortably furnished with dark wood furniture and power showers in the spacious bathrooms. Guests can relax with a TV, and there is trouser press, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities in every room. The WineGlass Restaurant at the Barns Hotel offers hearty food prepared by its Michelin-starred chef. The wine list is handpicked by the Vineyard's Director of Wine with over 40 wines and champagnes. Afternoon tea can be enjoyed by the river with homemade scones and cakes.
