Bad Lauterberg in Harz is a spa town in the district Osterode am Harz in the south of Lower Saxony. Bad Lauterberg is in the southern Harz and it is completely surrounded by mountains that are covered with mixed forests. On the eastern edge of the town there is a dam. The city is situated on the Oder River and is approximately 45 kilometers far from the city of Göttingen. The former mining town is now widely known for its water spa.
