Leipzig is a county city in the Free State of Saxony in Germany. It forms a center for economics and trade, administration, culture and transportation in the southeastern Germany. Leipzig is a core of the metropolitan area of Leipzig-Halle, and therefore part of the metropolitan area Saxon Triangle.The city is a major transportation hub and is one of the strongest economic areas in the Saxony land. Norderney is 14 km long, from the widest points to the west end and in the middle of the island its width is up to 2.5 km and with 26.3 km ² it is the tenth largest German island. The city is in region Lower Saxony.
