The Erfurt Cathedral is the most important and oldest church in Erfurt. During the Second World War was the cathedral spared of direct bomb hits. However, roof and windows of the choir were partially damaged by explosions in the vicinity. In 1965 was the beginning of renewed by extensive restoration work. It is one of the most famous German castles: the Eisenach Wartburg. There was written German history. 

After climbing to the 400-meter altitude plateau, you can be surprised by the architectural blend of Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and historicism. The City Hall building is a symbol of municipal policy and administrative center. The City Hall is located in one of the most remarkable places in the city, the Neo-Gothic building Fischmarkt. It is not only the seat of the administration and the center of political power in Erfurt, it is also a tourist attraction and venue for concerts, receptions and parties. The university of Erfurt was founded in 1389 and closed in 1816. In 1994 university was re-established.

Weimar is an independent city in the eponymous district Weimar in Thuringia. Through town flows the river Ilm. The history of the Weimar Republic (1919-1933) illuminates one of the most creative and crucial periods in the twentieth century.

German National Theatre Weimar with the town band is the most important theater in Weimar. The largest local church is the parish church of St. Peter and Paul, which was largely built around 1500. Extensive landscaped park on the outskirts of the center is part of the green corridor along the few-kilometers-long river Ilm. Weimar is due to many historical sites, museums, galleries, theater and many other historical monuments, the most important destination for urban tourism in Thuringia. Thuringian sausages are renowned local specialty.

Gehlberg is located in county Ilm-Kreis in the region Thuringia. Gehlberg lies on the northern slopes of the Thuringian Forest on a plateau between the valleys Wilder Gera and Zahmer Gera. The site extends from about 680 to 750 meters altitude. The village is only about 600 meters from the district Grund and only about one kilometer west of the 978 meter high Schneekopf, the second highest mountain in Thuringia.
