Funded by the writer Ludvig Holberg, the nearby Sorø Academy is Denmark's second-oldest school; its unique garden landscape of passage graves and ruins is of particular interest. The old monastery at Port Sorø is another charming local attraction. Restaurant Postgaarden offers both classic, traditional Danish cooking and a modern, open approach influenced by French cuisine.
