Tucked away in an Ecuadorian cloud forest, El Refugio Cloud Forest Lodge has country-style accommodations with regional décor. Guests can experience nature while staying in one of three charming houses with fully furnished common areas, including hammocks and featuring views of Cotacachi Volcano. It is located on a river with a population of rainbow trout. El Refugio Cloud Forest Lodget Retreat is a 1.5-hour bus ride from Otavalo, past Cuicocha Lake. Common areas include fully equipped kitchens and living room areas with rugs and comfortable sofas. Rooms feature private bathrooms with showers. Some rooms have private balconies. Breakfast is served daily. Birdwatching activities with a guide can be organised. Shuttles to Mariscal Sucre Airport, a 4-hour drive away, can be arranged.

Guests will need to take the road to Lago Cuicocha. Instead of going through the gates into the park, take the road to the left to Intag and continue another hour, approximately 25 km. El Refugio is at the bottom of a valley. When you come to a yellow church set in a schoolyard, you have reached Santa Rosa. Take the road to the left of the school and drive less than 1 km to El Refugio, on the right side. Please inform El Refugio Cloud Forest Lodge in advance of your expected arrival time.
