Well-known destinations are the Harz National Park and Geopark, also known by Goethe's Faust and Heine's Harz Journey. In 2010 were The Upper Harz ponds and dams recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Harz is the highest mountain range in northern Germany and is at the intersection of Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thüringen. Brocken is the highest mountain with 1141m. In the mountain range there are a lot of sport activities and impressive nature experiences.
