Meiningen is a town located in the district Schmalkalden-Meiningen in southern Thuringia. Meiningen is located in the idyllic valley of the Werra between Thuringian forest and the river Rhine.

Cycle with charming scenery and the various attractions of the River Werra leads to the Thuringian Forest to Meiningen and Eisenach, to the Werra river mouth to the river Weser. In the city is Elisabethenburg castle, museum, theater, cinema and gallery.
