Braunschweig is a city in Northern Germany in the southeast of the Land of Lower Saxony. Braunschweig is after Hannover the second largest city in Germany. Nationally known Christmas markets in Braunschweig have a 300-year tradition. Given that close to the Dankwarderode castle and to the Braunschweig cathedral, markets were already several times nominated for the best Christmas markets in northern Germany. University of Technology is the oldest university in Germany.
