Location

Lauenstein is located in the upper part of the town Müglitztal Altenberg in the district Saxon Switzerland - Eastern Ore Mountains in the region of Saxony. Lauenstein is located about 40 km south of Dresden in Eastern Ore Mountains.

The site extends from the railway station at 470 meters altitude on the slopes of the left Müglitz to 710 m high on ascending the river, where the center is located on an approximately 50 m above the terrace located Müglitztal.
