Exposed themes include agriculture and life on farms, in mines, the city´s image for decades, and urban history and archeology. The Catholic Church of the Virgin Mary was founded in 1285. AttractionsEvangelical Church of the Apostles is the oldest church building in the city. The Martin Luther Church was built in 1857-1861 by architect Christian Heyden. It is a neo-Gothic hall church with western tower. The interior is equipped with a rotating gallery and a chandelier from the 1659th hangs here. Tourist attractions in the town are : Spieker at the Old Church Square, House Kirchstraße 21, Veerhoffhaus, Church of the Apostles, Old churchyard, Meiers mill and The Weber House. The Water Tower was put into operation in 1888 and was temporarily used as a café. City Park was built between 1908-09 in the area of the flow of the river Dalke and it is considered one of the most beautiful parks in Germany. The city has 24 sports facilities and 39 sports halls, three outdoor and two indoor pools.
