Buje is a town situated in Istria, Croatia´s westernmost peninsula in Istarska. Buje was known as the "sentinel of Istria" for its hilltop site located 10 km inland from the Adriatic sea. It still commands an excellent panorama. Buja is closed to Novigrad.
HistoryBuje has a rich history; traces of life in the region date back to prehistoric times. The town developed from a Roman and Venetian settlement into a medieval town. A baroque church from the 16th century, built on the foundations of a Roman temple dominates the square.

Pula is the largest city in Istria County, Croatia, situated at the southern tip of the Istria peninsula.
Roman timesSouthern Pula has also been Istria´s administrative center since ancient Roman times. The city is best known for its many surviving ancient Roman buildings, the most famous of which is its 1st century amphitheatre, which is among the six largest surviving Roman arenas in the world.
